Foraging Courses

Learning how to identify wild food is one of the most rewarding ways to explore the outdoors. A guided foraging walk gives you the chance to discover edible plants and mushrooms while learning how to identify them safely and responsibly.

I regularly work as an instructor with Wild Food UK, helping run foraging courses across the UK. These courses are designed to introduce people to the incredible variety of wild food growing in our countryside and to teach the skills needed to identify species with confidence.

Each course is a relaxed guided walk where we explore woodland and countryside while discovering the wild foods growing around us.

Along the way we’ll learn how to identify some of the fantastic edible plants and mushrooms growing in the landscape, how to tell the difference between edible species and their lookalikes, and how to recognise seasonal wild foods and where to find them.

We’ll also talk about safe and responsible foraging practices, and spend time connecting with the landscape and the mysteries of the natural world that are so often overlooked.

The course finishes with a small tasting of wild food to give you a flavour of what nature has to offer.

The courses I help run with Wild Food UK take place across a variety of beautiful locations throughout the UK, including woodlands, estates and countryside settings.

Each course focuses on the seasonal plants and mushrooms that are growing at that time of year, meaning no two walks are ever quite the same. Spring, summer and autumn all bring their own wild foods to discover.
